ROUGH OPENING REQUIREMENTS

1. EXTERIOR FRAMES

A) Openings that require a threshold and swing-in. (Entry Door & French Doors)
Frame opening 2" over call out size in width and 3" over call out size in height.
(1) Example: Single 3/0 x 6/8 opening - R.O. should be 38" w. x 83" h.
(2) Example: Double 2/6 x 6/8 opening - R.O. should be 62" w. x 83" h.
(3) Example: Single 3/0 x 8/0 opening - R.O. should be 38" w. x 99" h.

B) Garage openings with a threshold. (Gar/ Hos. & Gar/Ext. and Exterior Storage doors)
Frame opening 2" over call out size in width and 2" over call out size in height.
(1) Example: Single 2/8 x 6/8 opening - R.O. should be 34" w. x 82" h.
(2) Example: Double 2/6 x 6/8 opening - R.O. should be 62" w. x 82" h.
(3) Example: Single 2/8 x 8/0 opening - R.O. should be 34" w. x 98" h.

C) Openings that require a threshold and swing-out. (Swing-out French Doors)
Frame opening 2" over call out size in width and 2" over call out size in height.
(1) Example: Single 2/8 x 6/8 opening - R.O. should be 34" w. x 82" h.
(2) Example: Double 2/6 x 6/8 opening - R.O. should be 62" w. x 82" h.
(3) Example: Single 2/8 x 8/0 opening - R.O. should be 34" w. x 98" h.

2. POCKET FRAMES
*Frame opening 2" over double call out size in width and 4" over call out size in height

(1) Example: Single 2/6 x 6/8 opening - R.O. should be 62" w. x 84" h.
(2) Example: Double 2/6 x 6/8 opening - R.O. should be 122" w. x 84" h


3. METAL FRAMES

A) Standard hollow metal frames.
Frame opening 4-1/2" over call out size in width and 2-1/2" over call out size in height.
(1) Example: Single 3/0 x 6/8 opening - R.O. should be 40-1/2" w. x 82-1/2" h.
(2) Example: Double 3/0 x 6/8 opening - R.O. should be 76-1/2" w. x 82-1/2" h.

B) Drywall commercial hollow metal frames.
Frame opening 2" over call out size in width and 1" over call out size in height.
(1) Example: Single 3/0 x 6/8 opening - R.O. should be 38" w. x 81" h.
(2) Example: Double 3/0 x 6/8 opening - R.O. should be 74" w. x 81" h.

C) Timely metal frames. For residential applications with thresholds.
Frame opening 1-1/4" over call out size in width and 1-1/2" over call out size in height.
(1) Example: Single 3/0 x 6/8 opening - R.O. should be 37-1/4" w. x 81-1/2" h.
(2) Example: Double 3/0 x 6/8 opening - R.O. should be 73-1/4" w. x 81-1/2" h.


4. INTERIOR PREFITS

Frame opening 2" over call out size in width and 2" over call out size in height.
(1) Example: Single 2/6 x 6/8 opening - R.O. should be 32" w. x 82" h.
(2) Example: Double 2/6 x 6/8 opening - R.O. should be 62" w. x 82" h.


5. WARDROBE SLIDING BYPASS OPENINGS (with 1/2" drywall wrapped)

A) 6/8 Units with 2 doors
Frame opening at call out size in width and 2” over call out in height
(1) Example: 2-door 8/0 x 6/8 opening – R.O. should be 96” w. x 82” h.

B) 6/8 Units with 3 doors
Frame opening 1” under call out size in width and 2” over call out in height
(1) Example: 3-door 12/0 x 6/8 opening – R.O. should be 143” w. x 82” h.

C) 8/0 Units with 2 doors
Frame opening at call out size in width and 3/4” over call out in height
(1) Example: 2-door 8/0 x 8/0 opening – R.O. should be 96” w. x 96-3/4” h.

D) 8/0 Units with 3 doors
Frame opening 1” under call out size in width and 3/4” over call out in height
(1) Example: 3-door 12/0 x 8/0 opening – R.O. should be 143” w. x 96-3/4” h.

**NOTE**
For 8' ceiling height - 8' high openings should be framed at ceiling height and have continuous backing.

6. BIFOLD OPENING (with 1/2" drywall wrapped)

*Frame opening 1-1/4" over call out size in width and 2" over call out size in height.
(1) Example: 2/6 x 6/8 opening - R.O. should be 31-1/4" w. x 82" h.
(2) Example: 5/0 x 6/8 opening - R.O. should be 61-1/4" w. x 82" h.

**NOTE**
8' high openings should be framed at ceiling height and have continuous backing.

7. MEDICINE CABINETS
For openings with 26” mirrors frame 14” x 24” x 3-1/2”
For openings with 36” mirrors frame 14” x 34” x 3-1/2”


**NOTE: YOU MUST BE ABLE TO VERIFY THAT SHEAR PANEL IS COMPLETE FOR ALL UNITS SCHEDULED PRIOR TO RECEIVING EXTERIOR JAMB DELIVERY AND INSTALLATION.
